8.2 Earthquake Chile, April 1, 2014

A massive 8.2 magnitude quake has struck off the coast of northern Chile, killing 5 people and displacing around 80,000. Damages and fires have been reported throughout the region and many have lost power because of the quake.

The quake occurred Tuesday, 95 km (59 miles) northwest of the mining area of Iquique near the Peruvian border. The epicenter was located at a shallow depth of about 20 km (12 miles) below the seabed.

The Chilean navy said the first sign of the tsunami hitting the coast was within 45 minutes of the quake. The US Pacific Tsunami Warning Center (PTWC) said a tsunami measuring almost two meters had been generated.

Chile’s emergency ministry ONEMI said there have been reports of landslides causing some blockage on roads and highways.

At least five people have died following the quake, Chile's Interior Minister Rodrigo Penailillo said. In Iquique, four men reportedly died of heart attacks and in the municipality of Alto Hospicio one woman was crushed to death when a wall collapsed.

CALIFORNIA: Let’s Make California the First State to Label GMOs!

In 2012, California’s Prop 37 sparked a groundswell of GMO labeling bills in states across the nation. Last year, Connecticut and Maine passed GMO labeling laws, but those laws won’t go into effect until other states pass similar legislation. Let’s make California the first state to pass a GMO labeling bill with no strings attached!

Please contact your state legislators today and ask them to support SB 1381 to label genetically engineered foods in California. Last week, SB 1381 to label genetically engineered foods in California, was passed out of the state Senate Health Committee. The bill now goes back to the Rules Committee and then on to the Senate Judicial and Agriculture Committees, before going to the Senate floor for a vote.  SB 1381 is a simpler, clearer version of Prop 37. Polls, both before and after the 2012 election, showed that 67 percent of Californians support a state GMO labeling law. SB 1381 is our chance to finally achieve what the people of California want: GMO labels on their food. We deserve the right to know if our food has been genetically engineered, just as citizens do in the 64 countries across the globe that have mandatory GMO labeling rules.  This is going to be a huge fight. Lobbyists from the Grocery Manufacturer’s Association are out in full force, spreading their misinformation at the state Legislature in Sacramento. But we can win if we act together. It’s urgent that we pass SB 1381 in this 2014 session! Finished Tattoo & Artwork

This is a follow up to a post I made about my new tattoo. The tattoo has been done for a while now, and I'm really happy with it. The color is awesome, the design is exactly what I wanted, and all the elements flow together. I just wish that I could get a decent picture of it. For now, the best I could do is this selfie:

I like this tattoo. The design and rendering of the electric eraser and the orange slice are top notch, and the amount of detail is impressive. I am trying to schedule a touch-up appointment with the artist (Craig Driscoll) so that he can smooth in the color of the translucent green french curves. Other than that, I wouldn't change a thing.

As is customary, the artist gave me his original working sketch as a souvenir. I love the artwork, so I asked him to create a color rendering for me. Using the sketch as a guide, Craig created an awesome original piece for me, along with several archival quality prints for my sisters. The original drawing is just as impressive as the tattooed version.

 I framed the original artwork and it now hangs in my office. I am super stoked on the work that Craig did for me. I'm sure that Dad would have liked it, too.

Self Care or Health Care?

It’s no secret that the healthcare or better know as the sickness care system in the United States is beyond broken.

Despite spending far more per capita than any other country on medical care, the United States does not even rank in the top 50 countries for life expectancy. The average life expectancy of a medical doctor in the US is 56 years.

Attempts to fix the problems have only seemed to make matters worse. Medical costs have continued to explode since the creation of Medicare in the mid-1960′s despite new regulations being periodically enacted over the years to attempt to control costs.

The Affordable Care Act (Obamacare) is the latest attempt to “control” costs and bring sanity to the healthcare insurance industry. Unfortunately, health insurance premiums and deductibles continue to increase with individuals and families required to pay for an ever larger share of their sickness and disease coverage even when employed by large companies, companies which only a few years ago, covered most or all of the cost.

For those following the pH Miracle alkaline diet and lifestyle who rarely if ever require a doctor’s care, the frustration with healthcare insurance is two-fold.

First, the sobering realization that the rapidly rising expense for medical coverage is due in large part to the toxic and acidic/GMO-ridden Standard American Diet and high stress/low activity lifestyle of a consenting majority suffering from a plethora of serious acidic health problems being “managed”, never resolved, by overpriced acidic pharmaceutical drugs.

Secondly, the knowledge that in the event so-called healthcare insurance is ever needed, that conventional drugs and surgery would be the only treatments covered by insurance with any holistic or alternative treatments paid for out of pocket.

Thirdly, the problem with healthcare in this country is NOT uninsured people, it's the overpriced, ineffective and dangerous treatments!

In essence, relying on sickcare insurance is being caught between a rock and a hard place. Not only is it extremely expensive, but even in the event of serious illness, you won’t get the coverage and treatments you desire if you are alternatively or pH Miracle minded.

So what is the solution - Education NOT Medication! Education NOT Vaccination! Education NOT Radiation! Self Care NOT Obama or Sickness Care! The Government needs to empower and reward each person who follows an alkaline lifestyle and diet with lower premiums and lower deductibles. Why? Because they seldom or NEVER get sick! They make better employees! They have more energy to do their work because they are healthy and fit! Tell everyone you love and care about that prevention is the cure to ALL sickness and disease NOT the acidic treatment(s) of a so-called disease or sickness by a medical system that is broken and treating symptoms NOT causes!

For those who think they need insurance then I would suggest an accident and/or hospital policy that covers you and your family in the case of emergency or accident. These types of policies are very inexpensive. The final and ultimate suggestion would be to embrace an alkaline lifestyle and diet and prevent cancer, heart disease, diabetes, and ALL sickness and disease. You must be the change you want to see in your own personal health and fitness!
