Eating Meat and Sugar, Drinking Alcohol and Smoking All Cause Cancer!

A multicountry study just published in Nutrients finds that smoking, diets rich in animal products, sugar, and alcohol have the strongest correlations with cancer incidence rates. The cancer incidence rates are from 2008 as assembled by the International Agency for Research on Cancer of the World Health Organization.
This study is an ecological study in which incidence rates for the various types of cancer for males and females from 87 countries with high quality cancer incidence rate data as well as all 157 countries with cancer incidence rate data were compared statistically with indices for various risk modifying factors. Dietary supply data were obtained from the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations. Data for various periods back to 1980 were included since there is generally a lag of up to 20 years between dietary changes and peak cancer rates. The animal products index includes meat, milk, fish, and eggs. Lung cancer incidence rates were used as an index for the effects of smoking and air pollution. This index integrates the effect of all factors contributing to lung cancer and other cancers linked to lifetime smoking and is a much better index than a snapshot of smoking rates. Latitude was used as an index of solar ultraviolet-B irradiance and vitamin D production.
For the 87 countries with high quality cancer data, the smoking and animal products indices explained over half of the cancer incidence rates, with alcoholic beverage supply explaining a smaller amount. For males, the smoking index was twice as important as the animal product index, while for females, the animal product index was twice as important. These two factors explained 70% of the variation in all cancer less lung cancer rates between countries. The range for these cancers for males extends from 75 to 300 cases/100,000/year, while that for females extends from 80 to 260 cases/100,000/year.
The results for some specific cancers are interesting.
The types of cancer for which animal products had the strongest correlation include female breast, corpus uteri, kidney, ovarian, pancreatic, prostate, testicular, thyroid cancer, and multiple myeloma. The reason why animal products increase the risk of cancer is most likely since animal products promote growth of the body as well as tumors through production of insulin-like growth factor-I (IGF-I). For example, older Japanese are generally shorter than Westerners while younger Japanese are about as tall as Westerners. The traditional Japanese diet derived 10% of its calories from animal products, primarily seafood. Japan has made the nutritional transition to the Western diet, with 20% of the calories derived from animal products. Rates of cancer types common in Western countries rose considerably in Japan during the past 20-30 years.
The findings regarding animal products extend the results reported earlier. For example, in 1907 a study reported in the New York Times reported that cancer rates were much higher among people in ethnic groups such as Germans, Irish, Scandinavians, and Slavonians, who were considered meat eaters, while cancer rates were lowest for Italians and Chinese, who were practically vegetarians:

Cancer Increasing among Meat Eaters. New York Times, Sep 24, 1907.
The present study also extends this classic study, which was largely ignored until a few years ago when observational studies on younger women found that meat was a risk factor for breast cancer.
Armstrong B, Doll R. Environmental factors and cancer incidence and mortality in different countries, with special reference to dietary practices. Int J Cancer. 1975;15:617-31.
Observational studies in Uruguay by Eduardo De Stefani and his group have reported meat consumption as an important risk factor for several types of cancer. The papers can be accessed through pubmed.gov.
Also, Seventh-Day Adventists, who are generally vegetarians, have lower cancer rates than other Americans:
Tantamango-Bartley Y, Jaceldo-Siegl K, Fan J, Fraser G. Vegetarian diets and the incidence of cancer in a low-risk population. Cancer Epidemiol Biomarkers Prev. 2013;22:286-94.
Commenting on this study, Neal Barnard, M.D., President of the Physicians Committee and on the faculty of the George Washington University School of Medicine, said “This is an important study showing strong relationships between meaty diets and cancer risk. There’s a clear-cut lesson there for national food policies.”
Mark McCarty, Research Director of the non-profit Catalytic Longevity, said “This compelling new study clarifies the over-riding impact of smoking and animal product consumption as environmental determinants of global cancer risk. In fact, it’s the most impressive evidence I’ve yet encountered indicting animal products per se as a major cancer risk factor. It’s notable that animal fat consumption did not correlate nearly as tightly with risk as total animal calories; that’s likely because other factors such as high-quality protein, heme iron, mutagens derived from cooked flesh, and possibly bioavailable phosphorus contribute to the impact of dietary animal products on cancer risk. It’s quite fortunate that smoking and animal product consumption are lifestyle choices within our personal control.”
Alcoholic beverage supply was found significantly correlated with only one type of cancer, colorectal.
Lung cancer was associated with animal fat supply in addition to cigarette supply. This finding is consistent with studies from 20-30 years ago noting that although smoking rates in Japan and the United States were similar, lung cancer rates were much higher in the United States.
Added sweeteners were associated with incidence of brain (females), corpus uteri, pancreatic, and prostate cancer.
For several cancers, latitude was significantly correlated with incidence rates: bladder, brain, colorectal (females), Hodgkin’s lymphoma, kidney, and melanoma. Latitude is assumed to be an index of solar ultraviolet-B doses and vitamin D production, and both have been found associated with reduced cancer incidence and/or mortality rates in many studies. See, for example,
Moukayed M, Grant WB. Molecular link between vitamin D and cancer prevention. Nutrients. 2013;5(10):3993-4023.
However, the correlation of latitude with melanoma rates is more likely due to variations in skin pigmentation; darker skin pigmentation reduces the penetration of UV to the deeper layers of the skin where it can cause melanoma.

The cores on all three reactors melted down. These are the events that caused these reactors to melt down:

1. The water in the containment vessel evaporated because the pumps that keep the coolant water flowing were disabled by the flooding waters of the Tsunami;

2. The Nuclear fuel became uncovered and heated up to a temperature of 2,300 degrees Celsius.

3. The nuclear fuel melted and mixed with the materials in containment vessel;

4. This melted core formed a magma called Corium which flowed down to the bottom of the reactor vessel.

5. The corium pierced the containment vessel and fell on the concrete containment;

Currently, we don't know what quantity of corium has fallen? How deep did the corium pierced the concrete containment vessel?

Quantum Craziness | Space News, Thunderbolt Project, December 27, 2013

A new paper published by an MIT physicist claims to theoretically prove that so-called "quantum entanglement" -- two particles seemingly occupying more than one state simultaneously -- gives rise to a wormhole that allows particles to communicate through a "gravitational tunnel". This theory follows from a paper published earlier this year, which suggests two black holes that become entangled and then are pulled apart create a wormhole, connecting the black holes. The reasoning in these papers is purely mathematical. Wal Thornhill examines this theoretical approach. Original URL:http://web.mit.edu/newsoffice/2013/yo...

Dr. Neil Turok, the Director of the Perimeter Institute for Theoretical Physics:

Theoretical physics is at a crossroads right now...In a sense we've entered a very deep crisis. You may have heard of some of these models...There've been grand unified models, there've been super-symmetric models, super-string models, loop quantum gravity models... Well, nature turns out to be simpler than all of these models.

If you ask most theorists working on particle physics, they're in a state of confusion. The extensions of the standard model, like grand unified theories, they were supposed to simplify it. But in fact they made it more complicated. The number of parameters in the standard model is about 18. The number in grand unified theories is typically 100. In super-symmetric theories, the minimum is 120. And as you may have heard, string theory seems to predict 10 to the power of 1,000 different possible laws of physics. It's called the multiverse. It's the ultimate catastrophe: that theoretical physics has led to this crazy situation where the physicists are utterly confused and seem not to have any predictions at all...

Robert Bauval | Zahi Hawass’ Khufu Cartouche Heist Claims Against Robert Bauval, December 25, 2013

Source: redicecreations.com, The Madness of King Zahi Hawass, Robert Bauval

December 25, 2013–Robert Bauval was born in Alexandria, Egypt to Belgian parents. He is a researcher of ancient Egypt and a bestselling author, probably best known for his Orion Correlation Theory. His research has been featured in documentaries throughout the world.

He returns to discuss lies and accusations made about him by Zahi Hawass, which were published in the newspaper 'Al Masry Al Yom'. Dr Zahi Hawass, ex Minister of State for Antiquities, revealed that "the robberies of King Khufu's cartouche was done on behalf of, Robert Bauval, an Egyptian Jew working in Belgium, who has been trying by every means to prove that the pyramid is a Jewish and not Egyptian product."

Hawass claimed that Robert collaborated and paid two German amateur archaeologists to steal the cartouche of the pharaoh Khufu inside a relief chamber of the Great Pyramid. He added: "I would like to make it clear that the foreign vandals are led by an Egyptian Jew living in Belgium, who had previously sent more than one person, who were all forbidden completely, and with whom I have had many battles, and he wrote a book before trying to prove that the pyramid was not Egyptian." Hawass confirmed that "it was not permitted to enter the pyramid except through tourist companies in order to make control, which is the opposite of what is happing now; which allowed the samples to be smuggled." Robert, who is of the Christian Catholic faith, will address these false accusations. -redicecreations.com

Pulling Energy from the Vacuum | Lt. Col. Thomas Bearden, PhD. | Disclosure Project Witness Archive

Source: SiriusDisclosure.com, disclosureproject.org

Colonel Bearden is a leading conceptualist in alternate energy technologies, electromagnetic bio-effects, unified field theory concepts, and other related areas. He is a retired Lieutenant Colonel of the US Army and holds a Ph.D. and an M.S. in Nuclear Engineering from the Georgia Institute of Technology. At the time of this interview, he was CEO of CTEC, Inc., Director of the Association of Distinguished American Scientists, and Fellow Emeritus of the Alpha Foundation's Institute for Advanced Study.

In Colonel Bearden's testimony he speaks extensively about how it is possible to derive useable energy from the vacuum without violating any currently known laws of physics. He and others have built electromechanical devices which actually demonstrate this technology.

He also explains how certain powers would rather keep this technology from becoming widely known outside of small esoteric circles. Time is running out however because our Earth does not have enough oil and coal reserves to last even for this generation. He explains how our top minds and scientists must first recognize then rally around an effort to solve this energy problem before 2004.

Cold Fusion and Beyond | Dr. Eugene Mallove | Disclosure Project Witness Testimony Archive

Source: SiriusDisclosure.com, disclosureproject.org

When this interview was filmed in October 2000, Dr. Eugene Mallove was Editor-In-Chief of the magazine Infinite Energy and Director of the New Energy Research Laboratory in New Hampshire.

He holds two MIT degrees in Aeronautical-Astronautical Engineering and a Harvard Doctorate in Environmental Health Sciences (Air Pollution Control Engineering). He has broad experience in high-technology engineering at companies including Hughes Research Labs, TASC (The Analytic Science Corporation) and MIT Lincoln Laboratory.

Dr. Mallove was the Chief Science Writer at MIT when the cold fusion story broke in March 1989, and he resigned in 1991 after his requested investigation into the altered cold fusion data at MIT (which helped to discredit the whole subject) was not properly done. The marginalization by the scientific establishment of the cold fusion topic bears strong resemblance to the similar marginalization of the ET/UFO topic: both have been ridiculed and defamed because they break established paradigms.

As Dr. Mallove states in this interview, "There is nothing worse...than suggesting to academic physicists in particular, and academics in general, that they are not only wrong; they are disastrously wrong, catastrophically wrong." In his magazine, Dr. Mallove has advised us to remember the sentiments of Michael Faraday: "Nothing is too wonderful to be true."

Pilot Decimo Fountain Pen: Capless Wonder

I usually begin a post with a catchy phrase like: "I recently acquired _____________, and it's awesome." I can't do that here because my Pilot Decimo fountain pen came into my possession more than six months ago. Unfortunately, it will be tough to write about "first impressions" because my memory sucks and I've been using the pen almost daily since I got it. On the plus side, I'll be able to reflect on six months of consistent use.

The Decimo is one of Pilot's capless fountain pens. For those wondering . . . "capless" = "retractable" in this context. The capless mechanism is identical to that used in the well-known Vanishing Point fountain pen by Pilot. I acquired a dark blue version with silver (rhodium) trim; ordered from an online vendor based in Japan. I've seen these offered on the Internet within the range of US$120 to US$260, and I can't explain the price variation. I suspect that the lower prices may reflect a product with a lower quality nib component, that the higher prices may reflect a limited edition version, or both.

I'm glad that I ordered the dark blue version. The blue is deep and slightly shimmery, without looking cheesy or tacky. The silver trim is brightly plated, and it matches the plating of the nib. If I'm being honest, I think a satin silver or nickel trim would look better with the blue body, but then the exterior trim wouldn't match the nib. The fit and finish of this pen is very good, and I have no complaints in that regard.

I chose the Decimo over its famous cousin (the Vanishing Point) because the Decimo is a little more compact in size and I thought it would be a better fit my child-like hand. I don't own a Vanishing Point and, therefore, can't do a hand-by-hand comparison, but my online research (which is always 100% accurate because everything found on the Internet is the truth) indicates that the Decimo is, in fact, less bulky and thinner in the grip area.

Speaking of the grip area, the pocket clip is attached to the nib end of the pen so that the nib doesn't leak during pocket carry (unless the carrier likes to walk on his/her hands, is a trapeze performer, or is an astronaut). Some users complain that the clip interferes with their fingers, but the clip doesn't bother me at all. In fact, I like how the clip also serves to align the pen in the hand such that the nib is properly oriented for writing.

The retractable nib mechanism is an engineering marvel. OK, it's not up to par with the Hoover Dam, but it's still pretty slick. The Decimo works just like a typical clicky style ballpoint pen: click once to extend the nib; click again to retract it. This is great for use at work, where I often jot down quick notes and annotate documents. In that typical workplace scenario, it's a hassle to frequently uncap and recap a traditional fountain pen to prevent it from drying out.

The following picture shows the business end of the Decimo with the nib retracted. The picture doesn't reveal the trap door thingy that covers and seals the nib inside the body of the pen. The door really works well . . . the nib has never dried out on me (although I haven't let the pen sit unused for more than a week).

In
A click of the button causes the nib unit to advance, which causes the door to open, which in turn allows the nib to extend into its locked position. Simple.

Out
After doing extensive research, I decided to get a fine nib. My choice was influenced by the fact that I do most of my office work on standard copy paper and cheap notepads, both of which exhibit a fair amount of feathering and ink spreading. I also read that there is a considerable increase in nib size when stepping from fine to medium nib units. In hindsight, I'm glad that I got a fine nib. It works great for my routine office work.

Speaking of the nib . . . the nib units of Pilot's capless pens (including the Decimo and the Vanishing Point) are interchangeable, and are offered by several vendors. I might obtain a medium nib unit if $70.00 magically appears in my wallet some day. The nib unit includes the nib, the feed, and a tube that accommodates Pilot ink cartridges (which only fit Pilot fountain pens) and certain Pilot ink converters (Pilot's CON-70 converter does not fit). The pen also comes with a metal sleeve for use with ink cartridges. The sleeve protects the cartridge and provides support for the actuation mechanism.

Nib Unit + Ink Cartridge Sleeve
I've used the Decimo with Pilot's CON-20 squeeze converter, Pilot's CON-50 piston converter, a Pilot ink cartridge, and a Pilot ink cartridge refilled with different ink. The converters work fine, but I found myself refilling them too often. Pilot's cartridges hold a little more ink, and it's easy to refill them with my own ink (using an ink syringe).

After more than six months of almost daily use, I can honestly say that I love this pen. The nib is rhodium plated 18 karat gold, and it has a little bit of give. I can't say whether or not it is "soft" per se, because I've never written with a truly soft nib. I do like the feel and smoothness of the nib, and the unusual shape/size of the nib has little to no impact on the writing experience. The performance of the nib is right up there with my other "good" fountain pens.

Moreover, the size and weight of the pen is nearly perfect for me, and the retracting mechanism works as expected and without any problems. I don't have any legitimate complaints about this pen, other than the high price. If it were less expensive, I'd already have another one for my home office.

Here are some writing samples that I created soon after I received the Decimo:

Sample 1
Sample 2
Sample 3
And here is a nice parting shot of the pen.

This will probably be the last post of 2013. Happy New Year!

Dr. Hal Puthoff, a theoretical and experimental physicist, is a graduate of Stanford University. He has published over forty technical papers in the areas of electron-beam devices, lasers, and quantum zero-point energy effects, and holds patents in the laser, communications, and energy fields.

Dr. Puthoff's professional background spans more than thirty years of research at General Electric, Sperry, the National Security Agency, Stanford University, SRI International, and, since 1985, as Director of the Institute for Advanced Studies at Austin, Texas, and President of EarthTech International Inc.

In his testimony, Dr. Puthoff points out that as we uncover the technologies that make space travel possible, we must consider the possibility that there are other civilizations who have been down this track ahead of us. This opens up the possibility of ET visitation. Considering that our electromagnetic technology is a century old, we must realize that there could be advanced civilizations out there that are milennia beyond us, and their technologies could be well beyond our imagination; therefore, the ET/UFO topic deserves to be taken seriously by modern scientists

Mark McCandlish is an accomplished aerospace illustrator and has worked for many of the top aerospace corporations in the United States. His colleague, Brad Sorenson, with whom he studied, has been inside a facility at Norton Air Force Base, where he witnessed alien reproduction vehicles, or ARVs, that were fully operational and hovering.

In his testimony, you will learn that the US not only has operational antigravity propulsion devices, but we have had them for many, many years and they have been developed through the study, in part, of extraterrestrial vehicles over the past fifty years. In addition, we have the drawing from aerospace inventor Brad Sorenson of the devices that he saw, as well as a schematic of one of these alien reproduction vehicles -- in some remarkable detail.

Dr. Paul Czysz is a Professor of Aeronautical Engineering at Parks College in St. Louis. He spent 8 years in the Air Force at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base, and another 30 years working for McDonnell Douglas in the field of exotic technologies.

While at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base, he was involved in tracking UFOs over Missouri, Ohio and Michigan. These UFOs were seen by many people: military, local police, and civilians, and were clocked at speeds around 20,000 MPH as they performed unusual silent maneuvers.

Dr. Czysz spent more than half his career at McDonnell-Douglas working on classified and compartmentalized projects, and testifies to the processes involved in maintaining secrecy on these projects. He warns against the human tendency to make every new technology into a weapon, pointing out that our weaponization of space does not address the threat of earth terrorists, and the idea of using these weapons against extraterrestrial targets would be suicidal.
